It’s the bane of any small business owner’s existence: how do you handle bad customers? That’s the question MSNBC’s Your Business asked a group of small business owners, including members of the Sunshine NY office community, in this week’s “From the Floor”. Click to watch the video.
At the WomenEntrepreneur blog, Sunshine Suites’ co-founder Cheni Yerushalmi has a huge, vital piece of advice for stay-at-home startups:

On the heels of the announcement that Sunshine Suites, in partnership with the NYC Economic Development Corporation, will be opening a Bronx small business incubator very soon, there was a flurry of incredibly positive media attention to the concept, all applauding the growth of the acclaimed Sunshine NY office community to a place where it can very much assist the entrepreneurial community of the Bronx with flexible & shared office space, as well as the noted Sunshine startup and entrepreneurial network. Most exciting, of course, is the NY News coverage of the announcement, with Sunshine Suites managing partner Cheni Yerushalmi with Mayor Bloomberg, which you can watch below.
In addition to this prime moment, there were also great stories in the Wall Street Journal (“New York’s entrepreneurial scene continues to grow, a trend officials hope shows the city will remain among the top centers in the world for business”), Crains New York (“With 1 million residents, we saw that as an opportunity,” Mr. Yerushalmi said. “The grant we received allowed us to create a dynamic, unbeatable price that will show the potential of the Bronx”) and A Better Office (” ‘Sunshine Suites has built a reputation at its two Manhattan locations as the place where start-ups grow-up,” says Sunshine Suites Co-Founder Cheni Yerushalmi. “Now, with our partners, we are bringing our affordable, scalable workspace model to Hunts Point, so we can offer a home to current and future entrepreneurs.’ “).

Today, Sunshine Suites announced the south Bronx business incubator, a joint venture between the office community of Sunshine NY and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, in the historic Bank Note Building.
Here’s a photo of Sunshine co-founder and managing partner Cheni Yerushalmi making the proud announcement (and running New York!).
Sunshine Co-Founder Cheni Yerushalmi promotes the idea of open space and fostering a community within the group, through events, team sports and even a vacation home in Vermont used as a corporate getaway.
To help jumpstart this initiative, the city’s Economic Development Corp. provided a $250,000 grant. Overall the Bronx incubator is the sixth to launch in the City since September 2008.
“With 1 million residents, we saw that as an opportunity,” Mr. Yerushalmi said. “The grant we received allowed us to create a dynamic, unbeatable price that will show the potential of the Bronx.

The Freedom Skate is “the journey of Austin Szelkowski (the freedom skater) will take him past the Washington monument, into the deep south, and through the great plains of our country. Out west he will journey over the Rocky Mountains and through the mojavi desert making his way to the great coast of California.” Along the way, Szelkowski is speaking and inspiring others to take risks, conquer challenges and live their dreams.
Along the route, Freedom Skater Szelkowski stopped to interview his old friend Cheni Yerushalmi, co-founder and managing partner of Sunshine Suites, who knows a thing or two about taking risks and living the dream.
I asked Cheni what he thought about the connection between entrepreneurship and individual freedom. He thought that the two concepts were inseparable in that entrepreneurs have more personal control over their work/life balance and daily choices than anyone else. Interestingly, these same people are usually in far more danger of work-obsession than non-entrepreneurs. I suppose it is because they are so passionately connected to their work; they own it!

#3: Sunshine Suites: We said “renting resources” and this is the best office rental space in town. They have fabulous locations all over the city fully equipped with internet, fax, printing, trendy jazz music, trendy bathrooms, fish pond in the foyer and pricing that can fit every entrepreneur, writer, actor, real estate broker, any other gig that requires an affordable office space on a month-to-month lease. That was a mouthful. I have worked here off and on for three years. God bless Sunshine Suites.
The mention’s incredibly appreciated, and just serves to illustrate one more reason why we do what we do here at Sunshine. Be sure to read the rest of the article for other great rental resource tips!
WHY THEY CAME To celebrate Mr. Call’s new work space at Sunshine Suites at Astor Place, a communal office he shares with people from several different fields. “Overflow workers from GQ, people in finance, marketing, accounting,” he said, beaming. “I like that it’s affordable — you share all the costs: overhead, printers, I.T., all of that.”
Over at the incredible My Path Builder, Sunshine NY’s entrepreneurial/small biz expert Cheni gives some invaluable advice in a quick, energetic interview.
Recently, Sunshine Suites and the Idea Team, an in-house meeting of various entrepreneurs who assemble to discuss ideas and inspire one another, was featured on CNN Money!

I am unable to wrap my head around the fact as to why any
entrepreneur in NYC would not be in this building
considering the price and networking opportunities.

We will certainly never find a better price and I would be surprised if we will ever find the same service we get at Sunshine.
